It is early Saturday morning , I wake up inspired after taking my DNA test in the afternoon the day before. Curious to know about the uniqueness of my personality, what drives me to share this amazing adventure through many experiences with you. The beauty of a human being is like an abstract piece of work, that’s the reason why not everyone can see it.
When I had that conversation with my mother, I knew her reaction would be funny.
Me: Mom, do you remember the project of a series of paintings? I'm still working on this project. Now I want to take my DNA test, what do you think?
Mom: What do you want to know more ? You already know who your mother and your father are, and also the country where you were born.
Me: No, I want more than that. I want to know about the details, the estimated ethnicity of my ancestors and uncover my unique DNA story.
She: You knew all about your grandma and grandpa. What else do you want? You may be looking for some trouble.
Me: Laughing hard, and so she does. and I heard her talking with another person through the phone about that.
If I asked the same question to my dad, he would say; Who influenced you, my son? ( Ahahahah…)
I know she will laugh again while reading this article. After making some jokes about that, this gorgeous lady showed me more interest in asking questions about the next steps. I like Seeing her excited about what’s that new adventure.
Everyone I have a conversation with about that topic in my circle of friends and family has something funny to say most of the time, like “ what if you find out that your family isn’t your biological one?”.
I’m so excited to do that because I wanted to know more about myself. I want to document this experience, it means a lot to me, and that’s one of the reasons why I chose to spend years on this project, and I’m doing my best to expand it so that others can be part of it. That’s my personal experience and when I decided to get involved I knew that many people would be interested in taking the test to know better about their origins , and also others to go further to know their family trees, discover other siblings they have.
Sharing this amazing adventure with others means a lot to me. I will start to create new abstract paintings based on DNA for others while you can still keep some information private, so they can feel a deeper connection they already have at home, specifically where the artwork is hanging. Having in front of you a symbol of your unique DNA story, and ancestors background. Reminding that getting wet doesn’t mean you feel or know the rain.
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned.
